The Uganda Association of Consulting Engineers is an association that brings engineering consultants and consulting firms in Uganda under one umbrella. Through this association, members are able to interact and map out solutions to problems facing their industry, carry out joint research and to regulate their profession, which helps in keeping the quality of engineering work at its best. The biggest mission of UACE is to develop and promote the consulting industry in Uganda. UACE also helps member consultants to keep current in technology. The association works hand in hand with other technical and engineering bodies to improve the state and to promote the use of technology in the country. These bodies include:
The Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE)
This is the professional body of engineers in Uganda. Membership is on the basis of good training and sufficient experience in the field of engineering. The institution also regulates the engineering profession and has a very big say in the registration process of practising engineers in the country.
The Engineering Registration Board (ERB)
Charged with vetting engineers who want to be registered to practice in Uganda.
The Architects Registration Board (ARB)
Responsible for vetting architects who are seeking to be registered as practising architects in Uganda.
Makerere University
This is the premiere university in Uganda and so far the only one offering engineering courses in the country. The association works hand in hand with the Faculty of Technology at the University in the formulation and revision of curricula. This helps the university to produce quality engineers ready to take on the current challenges immediately they graduate from the university.
